This week’s Preaching Donkey Spotlight features David Whiting, pastor of Northridge Church in Rochester, NY. I discovered him a couple years ago when I was searching for more pastors to learn from. I was drawn to his straightforward, clear communication style. His messages are thorough, well-prepared, and intentional.
I am often amazed how he is able to naturally remind his church of their mission/vision in every message. After listening to three or four of his sermons I can tell you that Northridge is all about making “more and better followers of Jesus.” This is a great communication strength that we should emulate – communicating vision naturally and regularly.
He has a few sermons I will feature in future Spotlights, but for today I want to introduce you to him with a short video of him discussing part of his sermon preparation process. In this video he discusses three preparation questions he asks as he’s writing his messages. You will benefit from adapting these three questions into your own sermon prep.
How could you benefit from using these three questions in your preparation? What other questions could you ask in your prep?
